Owl journal page using Claudine Hellmuth Studio Paints, Scarlet Lime journal pen and Finding Firelight Artist Marks stamps
Have you seen the Creative Jumpstart Video by Dina Wakley? It has been a great jump start for me and the fear of the white page. This week I finished off a couple of journal pages that were partly started using her ideas.
The owl is out of a homewares brochure that came in the junk mail in the letterbox. The paper wasn’t very thick, but he didn’t wrinkle when I glued him down – thank goodness. I used a Scarlet Lime journalling pen from Christy Tomlinson. It flows really well although it is quite thick, so you don’t get as much control as you could with a finer nib. And of course, I rush my writing which doesn’t help.
I’m really enjoying the Artist Marks stamps – especially the thick and fine ink splatters (Etsy store coming soon). They just fill in those spaces that feel like they are missing a little somethin ‘somethin’. The white is Ranger paint dabber, the black is Brilliance inkpad.
I did this page quite quickly and without too much thought which is the complete opposite of how I normally work. It was a nice surprise how this page turned out and it is starting to lead me to a possible signature style or style for the moment. I will share the other page I completed with you soon.
